I have been in this store three times now looking for fish. Each time it has taken over 30 min to get any help. One day I just left because no one would help me after waiting for a very long time. On the days that I did get help I had to hunt someone down myself. On top of that the staff has told me incorrect information many times about the fish. My last visit I asked a sales lady if the fish I was looking at could get pregnant easily and she said "No. It's very hard for this to happen." I headed home to do some research on my new friend and found out that not only was she wrong and that that fish type could have babies every month even without a male for 6 months, but that she was already pregnant and ready to give birth. I now have to take her back after already getting attached because my tank can not handle 100's of fry. Only pro to this store is that the fish there seem to be fairly healthy.
Grooming was amazing. I was able to make same day appt for a full grooming package for my cockapoo. My puppy's hair grew out so much and Maggie did an AMAZING JOB... it is literally the best cut she has ever had. She looks amazing and I am totally going to continue to use her.
Terrible customer service! Price changed twice within 5 minutes. When asked to speak with management, Renee stated she can't change the price. If you have a sale and your merchandise isn't priced where do you get the prices from? The sale started today at 9 am, we were there around 2 pm and no clear pricing. Oh, our first associate was the manager on duty, but Renee still wouldn't honor the price. We'll be taking our business to Tiki Corals in Glen Allen, the drive is well worth the customer service.
I can't speak for other pets, as I only keep fish. I typically try to make all my purchases for my aquariums at locally owned fish stores, as I feel that a lot of corporate pet stores badly mistreat their fish. This petco is one of my exceptions to this rule. Their aquatic department works really hard and it shows. All the fish and invertebrates I've purchased here were healthy, and their in-store tanks are well maintained.
No complaints really... this is the only place that I will let cut my dogs nails. Prices (products and services) are comparable to the competition, but I feel the product prices are high (at both, here and competition).
