I rented a car while mine was in the shop. The process to pick up the car was rather easy and pretty quick. However, once I was able to get into the vehicle I immediately noticed an unpleasant odor. Possibly smoke and a heavy perfume type smell. The combination of the two was nauseating. Also, the front windshield and back window were quite dirty as well as the mirror inside the car. It was bad enough that once I was able to get the vehicle home that I cleaned them all. I noticed trash under the front seat and food crumbs visible between the seats. This is just not what I expect when renting a car. The return was okay, but the staff seemed a bit too comfortable as if they were at home and not at work seeing a customer was in the office. lastly, I did need a ride across the street to where my vehicle was and the individual who took me over just walked outside without communicating which vehicle we were going to use so I was confused as to what we were doing. The fact that I had to ask, seemed odd. Not impressed overall. If I need to rent a car again, I will look for another option.
Most everything went fine. Customer service reps were friendly and handled the transaction efficiently. While we do know that the car was washed, we did notice a very pungent odor after leaving the rental facility and mostly on the outside of the car. It did not actually go away or subside until shortly before we returned the car.
The car selection was good--they had the pickup that I wanted. The people are nice, too. My issue is that I noticed a mistake regarding the drop off time in my confirmation email (I needed to drop it off in the evening rather than the morning). I called this location, spoke to a young woman, and she said changing my drop off time would not be a problem AND that there would be no extra charge. I went in to the store today to pick up my truck, and they told me they were charging me for an additional day because of the change. I told them about my conversation with the female employee and the gentleman helping me told me it must have been a "miscommunication." I explained that it wasn't a miscommunication, and that the employee had mislead me (although I believe it was unintentional). They didn't make any sort of correction to their error. The issue for me is the customer service--I would have had no problem paying the extra day if the woman I spoke with had simply been upfront about it. It's not good customer service to not follow through on an agreement. I won't be using this enterprise again.
Car was nice, I do not generally drive Toyotas, but the windshield was dirty on the inside and the car had a funny smell, a little hard to describe, but they should look for something old that used to grow. Too bad for a car with just 30k miles. The rental process was easy and smooth as it usually is at Enterprise, you need to ask for a paper rental agreement, always nice to have if something happens and the officer does not really believe you rented the car. They should leave the extra floor mats in, at 30k miles there was already a hole in the carpet under the gas pedal; probably more of a Toyota issue than Enterprise.
