Fast forward, to almost 2.5 months later and we are still receiving bills from the Hospitalist on staff for C-section not to mention the bill for Anasthesia as well. Only after notifying our insurance that we had been billed for 2 C-sections did their office return our numerous calls. My wife has called and left several more messages for Maria over the last week and all have gone unreturned.
Let's see... where do I begin?...
The entire staff at Women's Health and Surgery Center are exceptional. From the doctors to the front office staff I was very impressed. Great job!
We have reached our boiling point. This office will simply not honor their word and has been down right dishonest and unprofessional throughout this whole ordeal. We have given them several chances despite their many, many screw ups. My wife will be moving to another OB/GYN and I suggest others follow suit unless they wish to be treated like we have been during our repeated dealings with their office.
The office manager, Maria, contacted us a few days after we returned home to say that they would take care of everything considering we had already paid them for something they did not do and the conflicting bills that we expected would ensue from their screw up. She said their office would sort out the bills on our behalf and take care of all the costs related to the C-section.
My wife's water broke and we called the doctor on call to let them know of this. Dr. Shorter mentioned something to the effect that she will not be there and my wife said it sounded like she was not even fully awake. My wife and I figured they were confused as we had been telling them regularly that we were registered to deliver at Mary Washington Hospital. We showed up at Mary Washington just as we had planned for months and the nurses began phoning the OB office but were told that they are no longer delivering at Mary Washington. You can imagine the frustration when we having been going to this office frequently during the course of my wife's pregnancy leading up to delivery. The nurses were just as confused as us about why this office had not informed them or us of this change especially considering the office we regularly went to is located adjacent to the hospital's campus. To make matters worse, we also learned via an ultrasound that our child was breach when we had been told by this office for months that the baby was healthy and all was well. My wife ended up having a C-section that we were not anticipating nor was anyone from this office present during that procedure. This made a stressful situation even more stressful and, to make matters worse, they contracted with and billed us ahead of time for the Labor & Delivery which they did not even perform!
After the surgery, my wife was in a lot of pain and still after 48 hours none of the doctor's from this office came to check on her despite the nurses contacting them numerous times. Some time later, Dr. Dalke was kind enough show up and apologize for the office's poor communication after the fiasco they created for what was supposed to be a joyful time for my wife and I as we brought our first child into the world. She said the office would make it right for their screw up and they would take care of everything for us. After we were finally released from the hospital to return home, I noticed that Dr. Shorter was no longer listed on the practice's website which I found very strange.
Has been my ob since 2011 even though the practice moved and new doctor's came in had a good experience.
My daughter and I both went and we had no issues. We were seen in a timely manner and accommodated our schedules. Very nice and professional. Highly recommend
All of the doctors and staff are really nice and do a great job. I have been going there for almost 3 years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else
