1. Every time I have gone has been at least a 30-45 minute wait. I had one appointment last three hours.
2. I had to ask 3 times for them to refill a prescription for prenatal vitamins. When they finally got it done it was two weeks later.
7. The midwife said up front she probably won't be available for the birth of the child.
I absolutely loved Rappahannock women's center. Dr. Smith is hands down the best Dr I have had. I moved out of state and still call. I'm puzzled why anyone would or could give a bad review. We all have been first time mom's. She was feeling the normal abdominal pains. But anyhow, I would recommend this place. Not only a Dr but he gave great tips and advice about anything. And if he is not sure he will find out.
6. I am in my third trimester and apparently paperwork is more important than making sure my baby is ok. I was denied medical services.
9. Their bathrooms are dirty and I felt compelled to clean the seats and pick up trash off the floor.
I have given this place a chance but after three visits have decided they don't deserve my business and here is why.
Julie Weathers is the best midwife ever!!!!My husband and I are so grateful to say Julie and the nurses from MWH delivered our little angel. She approaches everything with a lovely demeanor that is never alarmist and always soothing and happy. If you are planning to deliver your baby with her you are in good hands.
5. Not all, but some of the front desk staff including the manager were rude to me and had an attitude.
3. The front desk will give you samples of prenatal vitamins and they are not good.
4. Their ultrasound equipment is broken and the images aren't clear. They couldn't even tell the sex of the baby even though she is due any day now.
10. The nurses are friendly and able to answer questions. They actually earned the one star I have the business, but if zero stars were an option here that's what I would have rated this office.
Doctor didn't have the time for me. I spoke with the receptionist and explained that the pregnancy was unexpected and I would be moving in a month but I wanted to get my first appointment scheduled to confirm the pregnancy and make sure that everything was going okay. I was told that I was going to get a urine and blood test and was scheduled with Dr. Shuman. I arrive at my appointment and everything was fine, the bathroom could use some cleaning. When I was greeted by Dr. Shuman she told me that we would have a discussion about supplements and the blood tests and talk about my next appointment. I then explained again of my situation. AS SOON as she found this out she stopped the appointment and just sent me over to get an ultrasound. I asked her if I needed bloodwork and she said by the time I saw the next doctor when I moved I should get the blood work which by the way I would have been ending my first trimester. She gave no prescription for prenatals and didn't talk any further about my pregnancy or how I was doing or the baby. I guess if they weren't getting money then they didn't care. I rarely write reviews and this is my first pregnancy and experience with a doctor. Needless to say I confirmed that I am going to a birthing center where they actually care. It was a waste of my time.
8. The midwife gave me incorrect information and statistics when she didn't know an answer to a question I had.
My only advice on if you choose to go to RWHC is to see Dr. Kil. I have seen every one of the doctors here over the course of the last 6 years, and Dr. Kil has never failed to be caring, knowledgeable, and most of all THOROUGH. He never misses a beat, and is always one step ahead. Never underestimate him. He was also my best and most professional birth, out of 3. Also my quickest recovery. I cannot say the same for the other doctors. I absolutely refuse to see Dr. Shuman ever again, after how she spoke to me over the phone while I was in PREMATURE labor and scared at the hospital. Let's just say, apparently she doesn't like to be bothered when it's Martin Luther King Day and she's off work. Front desk could use some changing. I only continue to use RWHC for Dr. Kil. He is a great doctor, and person.
11. There are not many options in Fredericksburg but I would forgo prenatal care completely before I ever returned here.
